Assistant Teacher ( Infant)
Classification: Non-Exempt; Hourly
Rate:$20.73 - $22 / Hour
FTE & Schedule: Full-time, 8:30/9:00a-5:30p, M-F
Reports to: Early Learning Center Manager

Job Summary
The Family Promise Rising Stars Early Learning Center Assistant Teacher will provide support to the Lead Teacher in charge of the classroom, cover classrooms as needed, as well as provide classroom coverage for teacher breaks. Must be comfortable with infant through kindergarten-ready ages. The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for reinforcing and assisting in teaching daily curriculum, supporting the Lead Teacher in daily activities, communication with families, ensuring the safety of students, and providing direct care.
This position is in the infant classroom (6 weeks-1 year), must be comfortable with infants.
Rising Stars Vision and Mission Statement
The Family Promise Rising Stars Early Learning Center is a community-based center that will provide developmentally appropriate child care and early learning opportunities for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Responsibilities and Duties
Administration
· Occasionally assist in properly completing all necessary documentation, including student attendance, daily health checks, diapering and potty forms, infant feeding forms, medication administration forms, etc.
· Provide and support organization of own proper documentation for licensing and training requirements.
· Provide support to Rising Stars Leadership, as needed with tasks that arise.
Family Involvement
· Day-to-day interactions at drop-off and pick-up with parents; helping to support the warm and welcoming environment our community provides.
Classroom Management
· Follow daily curriculum and schedule.
· Always ensure the well-being of students.
· Be available to support Lead teachers with children’s behavioral challenges throughout the day.
· Provide consistent and attentive care for children’s physical needs, including diapering, assisting with potty training, and supervising restroom transitions in accordance with health and safety protocols.
· Assist with the distribution, and supervision of snacks and meals, ensuring all children are fed in a safe and clean environment.
· Utilize instructional and assessment strategies as directed by the Lead Teacher.
· Assist students with activities planned.
· Maintain classroom cleanliness.
Center Closing Duties
· Responsible for the secure and orderly closure of the center; remains on-site until all children have been safely picked up.
· Collaborative assistance with classroom reset, including organizing materials and ensuring all environments meet end-of-day cleaning and sanitization standards.
· Serve as a point of contact for families during pick-up; provides high-quality customer service and ensures vital information is communicated to Lead Teachers or the Rising Stars leadership team.
· Ensure all children have been signed out of childcare software platform.
Other
· Supporting the Lead Teacher in maintaining the highest quality program.
· Continuing open communication with Lead Teacher and Assistant Director.
· Maintaining the highest quality rating as defined by our STARS to Quality membership.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge
- Required Qualifications:
- At least 16 years of age.
- Certification in first aid and CPR training including child first aid and CPR or will acquire within 30 days of hire.
- Current on the PR (or will acquire within 30 days of hire.)
- Must be or willing to be certified as an Assistant Teacher qualified through Montana DPHHS.
- Preferred some experience working with early childhood aged children (birth to 6) and families.
- Have some knowledge of the NAEYC milestones and early childhood programs.

Other duties as assigned for the successful operation of the ELC.
