Production Supervisor
Industrial Control Panel Manufacturing
Location: Lynchburg, VA
Employment: Full-Time | On-Site
Pay: $30.00-35.00/hour
Experience: 5+ years
ABOUT THE ROLE
ElectroMechanical Control Systems, Inc. is looking for a Production Supervisor to provide frontline leadership for our growing industrial control panel manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing, this role turns company priorities into clear employee assignments, a reliable detailed production schedule, prepared jobs, visible progress, and consistent day-to-day shop-floor standards.
This is a hands-on frontline leadership role with real daily operating authority. It is not a desk-only management position, but the primary responsibility is supervising and coordinating production - not filling a permanent panel-builder assignment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
· Direct daily work assignments for Project Leads, Panel Builders, Wiremen, Production Assistants, and other assigned production employees.
· Maintain and adjust the detailed production schedule based on due dates, job readiness, employee skill, capacity, and changing shop conditions.
· Verify jobs are ready before work begins, including current drawings, work orders, material requirements, travelers, tools, floor space, and qualified labor.
· Monitor work throughout the day, resolve routine production issues, and move employees to productive work when jobs become blocked.
· Provide clear employee direction, routine coaching, and consistent expectations for workmanship, productivity, attendance, documentation, safety, and housekeeping.
· Coordinate training and skill development.
· Maintain accurate production status, labor, work-order, traveler, and scheduling information.
· Identify material shortages, quality concerns, schedule risks, and other problems early and escalate them through the correct process.
· Own daily shop-floor organization, WIP control, job-cart organization, housekeeping, and 5S execution.
· Coordinate closely with the VP of Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Purchasing while respecting established roles and authority.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
· 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, skilled trades, production, or a related environment.
· Demonstrated experience coordinating daily work, assigning tasks, leading employees, or supervising production workflow.
· Strong organization across multiple jobs, changing priorities, and employees with different skill levels.
· Ability to work with technical drawings, work orders, BOMs, travelers, or similar production documents.
· Clear, respectful communication, sound judgment, and the ability to coach employees professionally.
· Comfort with basic computer, scheduling, labor-tracking, and ERP tools.
· Strong commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and disciplined production processes.
Preferred - Not Required
· Industrial control panel, electrical assembly, wiring, or electrical drawing experience.
· Custom, job-shop, engineer-to-order, or high-mix manufacturing experience.
· ERP/MRP, production scheduling, job traveler, or labor-tracking experience.
· Familiarity with 5S, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or structured problem solving.
· Experience coordinating employee training or maintaining skill qualifications.
· Experience viewing, navigating, or marking up digital technical drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Full-time, hourly nonexempt, and on-site at the Lynchburg production facility.
· Regular production-floor presence is required.
· May temporarily assist with production work or other shop activities when operationally necessary, while maintaining supervision, scheduling, employee direction, and production visibility.
· Overtime may be required based on production needs.
WHY JOIN EMCS
You will have a clearly defined frontline leadership role with real daily operating authority, direct access to the VP of Manufacturing, and the opportunity to help strengthen production systems as the company grows.
