We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Wood Door Finisher / Stainer to join our team at HDB Doors. We would prefer to have someone with experience in this field, but we are willing to train as well. In this role, you will be responsible for both in-shop staining/finishing and on-site service work and restoration including applying finishes, stains, and coatings to wood doors to achieve high-quality aesthetic and protective standards. Your expertise will ensure that each door meets our rigorous quality benchmarks while adhering to safety protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the craftsmanship of beautifully finished wood products in a dynamic production environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare wood surfaces through sanding, masking, and surface cleaning to ensure optimal finishing results.
- Apply stains, paints, and coatings using conventional spray guns, airless paint sprayers, or hand tools with precision and consistency.
- Aside from working in the shop you will be traveling to customers' homes and job sites to perform on-site door refinishing, finish restoration, touch ups, and maintenance services as needed.
- Operate machinery such as machining tools and power tools safely and efficiently during the finishing process.
- Interpret production documents and work orders to accurately execute finishing tasks.
- Follow safety protocols diligently by using personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and respiratory protection devices.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and quality inspections to ensure finishes meet specified color standards and surface quality requirements.
- Handle materials carefully during coating application and materials handling processes to minimize waste and defects.Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, spray guns, and coating equipment for industrial painting and finishing tasks.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality standards in production, and construction painting surface preparation.
- Ability to interpret technical documents related to production finishing procedures
- Experience with powder coating, conventional spraying techniques, airless paint spraying, and construction painting surfaces.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols including PPE use, respirator fitting, respiratory protection measures, and materials handling safety.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to coating thicknesses and material quantities.
- Familiarity with visual color comparison techniques for achieving consistent finish quality.
