You'll be working alongside a dedicated team, including two teacher assistants, creating a nurturing and empowering environment for student growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Special Education EC-12 teaching certification (please verify your credentials in the TEA database)
- Experience or strong interest in working with elementary students with intellectual disabilities and life skills needs
- Demonstrated ability to lead, collaborate, and foster a positive classroom climate
- Current (or willingness to complete) fingerprinting, background check, and drug screening as per district requirements
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique life skills
- Deliver engaging, functional curriculum focusing on daily living, communication, and socialization
- Foster inclusive participation, adapt lessons, and collaborate with assistants to maximize student success
- Communicate regularly with families, school staff, and support networks regarding student progress and goals
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and ongoing professional training as required
