Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our professional team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental hygiene, patient care, and infection control, with a passion for promoting oral health. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive dental services, educating patients on oral hygiene practices, and supporting overall practice operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and other preventive procedures to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, to ensure safe treatment planning.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary considerations, and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using appropriate aseptic techniques while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Assist dentists during various procedures with chairside assisting, handling dental equipment, and managing dental supplies efficiently.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention protocols and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and ensure a sterile environment.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a general or pediatric dentistry setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding related to dental care.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, equipment operation, and infection control standards within a healthcare environment.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred to effectively serve young patients’ unique needs.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
- Certification in dental hygiene from an accredited program; licensure compliant with state regulations.
