We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmology Biller/Coder to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Review ophthalmology medical records, including clinical notes, diagnostic reports, and treatment plans, to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes.
- Ensure accurate coding of procedures and diagnoses in accordance with current coding guidelines and payer requirements.
- Prepare and submit clean claims for insurance reimbursement using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies while maintaining positive patient relationships.
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation supports billed services for audit readiness.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding standards, and insurance policies relevant to ophthalmology practices.
- Collaborate with physicians and administrative staff to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy for optimal reimbursement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within an ophthalmology.
- Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG classifications, and ICD coding principles specific to ophthalmology procedures.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and the use of EMR/EHR systems.
- Excellent understanding of medical billing processes, insurance claim submission, denials management, and collections.
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately and translate it into precise codes.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
