Senior Mechanical Engineer – Nuclear Projects

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design / Project Engineer with 5–10 years of experience supporting nuclear power plant modification projects.
This role will support the Hatch Capital Extended Power Uprate (EPU) Project , performing Owner Acceptance Reviews and serving as the Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) for assigned scopes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, nuclear regulatory knowledge, and hands-on experience in plant modification and capital project environments.
- Perform Owner Acceptance Reviews (OARs) of engineering deliverables.
- Fulfill Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) duties for assigned projects.
- Review and approve design documents, calculations, specifications, and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with nuclear design standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Support plant modification projects in an operating nuclear facility.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and project management teams.
- Evaluate design impacts on plant systems and operational performance.
- Provide technical input to capital project planning and execution.
- Ensure adherence to QA requirements and nuclear regulatory standards.
- Support Extended Power Uprate (EPU) engineering evaluations.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and cross-functional discussions.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Required).
- 5–10 years of experience in nuclear power plant engineering.
- Experience supporting nuclear plant modification projects.
- Experience performing Owner Acceptance Reviews.
- Experience serving as a Responsible Design Engineer (RDE).
- Strong understanding of nuclear codes, standards, and QA processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting Extended Power Uprate (EPU) projects.
- Experience in capital project execution within nuclear facilities.
- Familiarity with plant systems such as piping, mechanical equipment, and balance-of-plant systems.
