Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Material Handler to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and preparing production kits to support efficient manufacturing operations. The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring production teams have the right materials at the right time while supporting lean manufacturing principles and inventory accuracy.
The ideal candidate will have experience in inventory control, kitting operations, forklift operation, and warehouse logistics within a manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Control & Cycle Counting
- Perform routine cycle counts of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies between physical counts and ERP/MRP systems or inventory spreadsheets.
- Maintain 100% inventory accuracy through diligent counting and recordkeeping.
- Track inventory movements and ensure inventory systems reflect real-time stock levels.
Kitting Operations
- Gather and package components according to production kit sheets.
- Verify all required parts are included and properly labeled.
- Stage completed kits for production to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
- Support Just-in-Time (JIT) material delivery to production lines.
Material Handling & Inventory Management
- Safely move materials throughout the facility using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and support replenishment activities.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing materials.
- Identify and report damaged materials, shortages, or inventory concerns.
Continuous Improvement & Organization
- Maintain inventory and kitting areas using 5S principles.
- Organize high-use materials for efficient access and workflow.
- Support Kanban systems and two-bin replenishment processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the warehouse and production areas.
Quality & Compliance
- Perform visual inspections of parts during the kitting process to identify defects or non-conforming materials.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and documentation.
Additional Duties
- Support special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Logistics, and Inventory teams to resolve material issues.
Qualifications Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience & Skills
- 1–3 years of experience in inventory control, kitting, warehouse operations, or material handling.
- Experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to distinguish similar part numbers and product identifiers.
- Proficient in basic math including counting, weighing, and unit conversions.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel for inventory tracking.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and commitment to maintaining a clean work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in lean manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of Kanban systems and Just-in-Time (JIT) inventory processes.
- Forklift Certification required; Forklift Trainer Certification is a plus.
- Experience supporting production lines through kitting operations.
- Familiarity with inventory auditing and root cause analysis.

Working Conditions
This position is based on the manufacturing shop floor and requires:
- Frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Standing and walking for the majority of the shift.
- Frequent bending, reaching, crouching, and material handling activities.
- Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to varying temperatures depending on season and facility conditions.
- Exposure to production floor noise levels.
- Use of required PPE including safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, sleeves, and long pants.
