Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
- Support patients with specialized needs including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and those with developmental disabilities
- Assist healthcare professionals during medical procedures and treatments, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained
- Operate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts safely to prevent injury and ensure comfort
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing medical documentation and records
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to promote understanding and reassurance during care delivery
Experience
- Prior experience working with geriatric patients in long-term care facilities or nursing homes is highly valued
- Experience in acute care environments such as ICU (Intensive Care Unit), emergency medicine, or Level I Trauma Centers is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, catheter care, and basic life support (CPR) is essential
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks enhances efficiency in documentation and patient management
- Demonstrated caregiving skills in home care or outpatient settings that involve patient service and mobility assistance
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs including pediatric or developmental populations is advantageous
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while adhering to safe lifting practices for heavy lifting requirements
