Position Overview
The AI Summer Institute Coordinator serves as the chief architect and leader of the Summer Experience, overseeing all operational, instructional, residential, and co-curricular components of the AI Summer Institute. This role is ideal for a dynamic, mission-driven professional who thrives in fast-paced learning environments, excels at student engagement, and can orchestrate a seamless, high-quality summer program from start to finish.
The Coordinator ensures that the Institute delivers a transformative, future-forward experience that blends artificial intelligence, creative problem-solving, academic enrichment, and community-building. This position requires exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a passion for empowering emerging scholars.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Experience Design
- Serve as the primary leader and point of contact for all aspects of the AI Summer Institute.
- Design and implement a cohesive daily schedule that integrates instruction, workshops, enrichment activities, and residential life.
- Ensure the program reflects Talladega College?s commitment to innovation, academic excellence, and student-centered learning.
- Lead daily briefings with staff, instructors, and residential counselors to maintain alignment and quality.
Student Engagement & Community Building
- Foster a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive learning community for all participants.
- Oversee student orientation, community standards, and engagement protocols.
- Coordinate evening programs, weekend activities, and special events that enhance the student experience.
- Serve as a visible, accessible leader who models professionalism, empathy, and enthusiasm.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Recruit, train, and supervise residential counselors, instructional assistants, and program support staff.
- Conduct pre-program training on safety, youth development, AI literacy, and program expectations.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and conflict-resolution support.
Operations & Logistics
- Manage daily program operations, including attendance, transportation, facilities coordination, and meal schedules.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety standards, and emergency procedures.
- Oversee housing assignments, room checks, and residential life protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, attendance, and program metrics.
Instructional & Academic Support
- Collaborate with faculty, guest speakers, and industry partners to support AI-focused workshops and learning modules.
- Ensure instructional spaces are prepared, equipped, and aligned with program needs.
- Support curriculum delivery by coordinating materials, technology, and student movement.
