American Traveler is hiring an RN Nurse Manager for NICU/PICU/Pediatrics requiring an active IL RN license and 5 years of NICU nursing experience with 2 years in a supervisory or charge role.

Manage daily operations across NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics units in a hospital setting
-
Oversee care for critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients and their families
-
Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
-
Weekend coverage required as needed, not to exceed one weekend shift per month
-
24/7 accountability for unit operations
-
Cerner charting system experience required
-
Floating expected across various units within specialty and occasionally outside primary competency, with team-based support provided in such cases
-
May be required to float to other facilities within a 50-mile radius with as little as 2 hours notice

Active RN license in the State of Illinois (IL) required, no pending licenses accepted
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing school required
-
5 years of nursing experience within a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) required
-
2 years of nursing supervision or charge nurse experience required
-
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Master's Degree in Nursing preferred

Bilingual skills preferred

Two professional references required from most recent supervisors within the past 2 years

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required with no exceptions

Oversee hiring, scheduling, budgeting, and policy development for the NICU/PICU/Pediatrics units
-
Participate in collective bargaining activities including reviewing agreements, consulting with Labor Relations, and joining negotiation discussions

Document and administer disciplinary actions in accordance with system policies and collective bargaining agreements

Collaborate closely with neonatologists, pediatric specialists, and unit staff to ensure quality patient care
-
Use independent judgment to manage staffing needs including hiring, transfers, promotions, and scheduling
-
RTO limited to a maximum of 5 days with no more than 2 consecutive days, and weekend time off is not approved
-
No holiday RTO permitted, including the day before or after a holiday
-
Block scheduling and special scheduling requests are not accommodated
-
Returning clinicians must undergo full recredentialing and orientation, regardless of length of previous break in service

Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are considered local
-
Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
