Join our dynamic team as a Part-Time General Cleaner/Night Janitor and be a vital part of maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our education client in downtown Portland. This energetic role is perfect for motivated individuals who take pride in their work and enjoy working during evening hours of Monday-Friday from 6pm to 10pm for 20 hours per week/4 hours per night long term. You’ll be responsible for performing thorough cleaning and custodial tasks to ensure our facilities are spotless and well-maintained, supporting the overall operations of the organization. Duties
- Perform comprehensive cleaning of mostly restrooms, possibly some office spaces, hallways, and common areas, etc, using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies
- Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping and other floor care techniques like vacuuming to ensure a clean and neat appearance
- Handle trash removal, recycling, and restocking supplies to keep the environment tidy and functional
- Conduct routine inspections of the premises to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards and report those to your supervisor
- Use custodial tools and chemicals safely and effectively while adhering to health and safety guidelines
- Support the entire custodial team and be a team player when needed but also be able to clean on your own and complete assigned tasks on a nightly basis with little supervision if needed
- Follow established cleaning schedules and document completed tasks for accountability
Requirements
- Proven janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or residential settings
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques including floor care like mopping and vacuuming and industrial cleaning methods
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance procedures and basic repair skills is a plus but by no means a requirement
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, and mops safely
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to cleanliness and safety standards
- Ability to work independently during night shifts with minimal supervision but also be a total team player
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive cleaning tasks, lift moderate loads, and stand for extended periods
