Assistant Café & Catering Manager

About Us
We are a busy neighborhood café specializing in breakfast, lunch, and catering. We're looking for a dependable, hands-on Assistant Café & Catering Manager to help lead our daily operations and grow with our team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the café and catering business
- Help oversee catering orders from preparation through delivery
- Lead and support both kitchen and customer-facing staff during busy shifts
- Maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and health department compliance
- Manage inventory and help minimize waste
- Jump in wherever needed—including food preparation, grilling, sandwich making, point-of-sale operations, packaging, and delivering catering orders
- This is a working management position, not a delegation role. We lead by example and work alongside our team every day. Applicants should have experience with menu development, food preparation, short-order cooking, and catering operations.
- Work closely with ownership to improve systems, streamline operations, and help grow the business.
Qualifications
- Previous management or supervisory experience in a café, deli, restaurant, or catering environment is preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with food preparation, short-order cooking, and catering operations
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods
- Food safety knowledge is required; ServSafe Food Manager certification is highly preferred
- A reliable vehicle is required. Managers occasionally pick up supplies from local vendors and Restaurant Depot when needed.

Schedule
- Full-time or part-time opportunities available
- Availability Monday through Friday is required for all positions
- No weekends
- Morning and daytime shifts
Pay
$21–$25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
