Job Summary
Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory is looking to have a Funeral Assistant join our team. The Funeral Assistant provides compassionate, professional support to funeral directors and grieving families during visitation, funerals, memorial services, and burials. This role involves assisting with logistical arrangements, maintaining facilities, transporting equipment or decedents as needed, and ensuring services run smoothly with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities
Service & Family Support
- Assist funeral directors during visitations, funerals, wakes, memorial services, and graveside services
- Greet and guide families and guests with sensitivity, professionalism, and empathy
- Help families with seating, floral arrangements, and service logistics
- Maintain a calm, respectful atmosphere during services
Preparation & Setup
- Set up and break down chapels, visitation rooms, and service areas
- Arrange seating, décor, floral displays, register books, and multimedia equipment
- Ensure all areas are clean, organized, and presentable before and after services
Transportation & Logistics
- Assist with the transfer and transportation of the deceased (as trained and directed)
- Drive funeral vehicles, including hearses or limousines, when required
- Load and unload equipment, caskets, and other materials safely
Facility & Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness of preparation rooms, chapels, vehicles, and public areas
- Perform light cleaning and routine maintenance tasks
- Ensure supplies are stocked and equipment is ready for services
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion in emotionally sensitive situations
- Ability to be on call some nights and weekends
- Must live within 20 minutes of Funeral Home

- Exposure to emotional situations and deceased individuals
- Physically active role requiring lifting, standing, and walking

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
