Program Aide (Adult Day Health Care Center)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM (30 hours per week)
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Location: Long Beach, CA
About the Position
Salida Del Sol Adult Day Health Care Center is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and energetic Program Aide to assist older adults and individuals with disabilities in a structured healthcare setting. This role involves direct participant care, activity support, meal service, mobility assistance, and maintaining a safe and engaging environment for our participants.
This position is ideal for candidates with caregiving experience who enjoy working with seniors and making a positive impact in their daily lives.
Responsibilities
- Assist participants with activities of daily living, including toileting, grooming, feeding, ambulation, and personal hygiene.
- Assist participants with mobility, transfers, wheelchair transportation, and walking programs as directed by nursing staff.
- Observe participants for physical, emotional, or behavioral changes and promptly report concerns to nursing staff.
- Support recreational, therapeutic, and group activities.
- Assist with meal preparation, meal service, snacks, and cleanup.
- Maintain required participant documentation and service records.
- Help create a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for participants.
- Assist participants entering and exiting transportation vehicles when assigned transportation duties.
- Provide transportation to and from the Center when assigned and qualified to drive.
- Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings, and comply with all health, safety, licensing, and Center policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Assistant Program Director, nursing staff, or other supervisory personnel.
Physical Requirements
This position is active and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and assisting participants throughout the day.
Candidates must be able to:
- Assist participants with mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living.
- Push wheelchairs and mobility equipment.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally assist with participant transfers or moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance and proper safety techniques.
- Respond appropriately during participant emergencies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of caregiving experience preferred.
- Experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or healthcare participants preferred.
- CNA or Home Health Aide certification is a plus but not required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
- Spanish speaking is required.
- Valid California Driver's License preferred.
