Customs Entry Writer

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Customs Entry Writer to join our clients - a top 25 freight forwarder - growing customs brokerage and logistics team in Atlanta. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and processing U.S. Customs entries, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, and providing exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit customs entries through U.S. Customs systems.
- Classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements.
- Review shipping documents, commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading for accuracy.
- Calculate duties, taxes, and applicable fees.
- Communicate with customers, carriers, government agencies, and customs officials to resolve shipment issues.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure timely filing of customs documentation.
- Monitor shipments and proactively resolve customs clearance delays.
- Stay current with changes to customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Customs Entry Writer or in customs brokerage.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and import procedures.
- Experience using customs brokerage software such as CargoWise, Descartes, or similar systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) is an advantage but not required.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
