Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance operations within the facility to ensure maximum equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This role oversees preventive and predictive maintenance programs, manages maintenance personnel, and supports production by minimizing equipment downtime while maintaining a safe and food-safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- Develop, implement, and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Ensure optimal performance and reliability of manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
- Minimize equipment downtime through effective planning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with Production to maximize operational efficiency.
- Manage emergency repairs and establish rapid response procedures for equipment failures.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians, supervisors, and contractors.
- Schedule work assignments and manage staffing to support production requirements.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and employee development.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with FDA, USDA, OSHA, GMP, HACCP, SQF/BRC/FSSC 22000, and company food safety standards.
- Maintain equipment in sanitary condition and support sanitation programs.
- Participate in food safety, quality, and regulatory audits.
- Ensure maintenance documentation meets regulatory and company requirements.
Asset & Reliability Management
- Manage work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, spare parts inventory, and equipment history.
- Develop equipment lifecycle strategies and capital replacement plans.
- (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and maintenance costs.
- Recommend and implement equipment upgrades to improve productivity and reliability.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and maintenance processes.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Root Cause Analysis, and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
- Support cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent maintenance leadership experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, automation, refrigeration, steam, compressed air, and utility systems.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, GMPs, HACCP, and food manufacturing best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, planning, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or TPM experience.
- Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems (where applicable).
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a food manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment, noise, temperature variations, and moving machinery.
- Frequent walking throughout the facility and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Availability for off-shift support, weekends, holidays, and emergency maintenance situations as needed.
- Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Pay- Based on experienced, range is $70,000 - $90,000. Crunch Factory is a small shop with one production line.
