Overview
Bring your passion for pop/rock/theater music to inspire the next generation! Looking for enthusiastic, demonstrative teachers who can teach voice (expert) and who can teach piano (beginning-Intermediate). Successful candidate in the past have had strong musical theater training. You do not need to be expert in piano, but you do need to accompany your students well enough (in lessons and at recital.) Combination of private 1-1 lessons and ensemble teaching. In this dynamic role, you will design engaging lessons, foster a love for music, and help students achieve their artistic goals. Whether working with children, teenagers, or adults, you’ll bring your energy to create a positive learning environment that encourages growth, creativity, and confidence.
Responsibilities
- Deliver fun, engaging lessons-- get kids to fall in love with music!
- Prepare voice/piano students for Student Recitals (December and April)
- Prepare voice/piano students for Student Band Showcases (Feb and June)
- Develop customized curriculum plans for voice and piano lessons tailored to each student’s skill level and musical interests
- Teach 45-minute private (1-1) lessons weekly to students in voice and/or piano.
- Give 90-second lesson de-brief to the parent/guardians of 1-1 students at end of each lesson.
- Ensure that all lessons include warm-ups so that student learn to sign healthfully
- Ensure that all lessons include "Homework"-- e.g. /specific songs, tempos, passages, etc.
- Deliver warm, engaging, energetic lessons that motivate students to improve their singing and piano techniques;
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help students progress confidently in their musical journey
- Support our school's value of inclusion-- we welcome students of all backgrounds including students with special needs.
- Incorporate diverse teaching methods, including lesson planning that integrates theory, technique, and musical expression
- Foster positive relationships with students and parents to support ongoing development and address individual needs
- Demonstrate Patience-- working with kids is not easy!
- Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying ages and backgrounds
- (If available) Teach 90-minute pop/rock Ensemble rehearsals, weekly
Desired
- Previous successful experience teaching music, professional or volunteer basis.
- Ability to teach an additional instrument (additional to piano and voice)
Pay: $40.00 per hour
