Interview Engineer Opportunity
A global technical interview platform is seeking experienced software engineers to join its network of Interview Engineers. This is a flexible, contract-based opportunity focused on conducting and evaluating technical interviews rather than building production software.
Interview Engineers facilitate live coding interviews with software developers around the world while creating a positive and structured candidate experience. The role emphasizes fairness, consistency, communication, and objective evaluation throughout the hiring process.
Responsibilities include:
- Must be available for 40 hours per week.
- Conducting technical interviews through a proprietary interview platform
- Evaluating coding ability, problem-solving, communication, and technical knowledge
- Guiding candidates through interviews while maintaining structure and time management
- Providing detailed and objective interview feedback
- Collaborating on interview content, process improvements, and future AI-related interview initiatives
Ideal candidates typically have:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Prior experience interviewing, mentoring, leading, or managing engineers
- Interest in hiring quality, structured interviewing, and bias reduction
- Full-stack engineering experience preferred
Successful candidates are often highly organized, professional, and comfortable communicating with candidates in real time. Soft skills and interview presence are considered stronger indicators of success than purely technical depth.
The onboarding process includes paid training, mock interviews, mentor-reviewed sessions, and a supervised apprenticeship period before certification to conduct interviews independently.
This is a highly flexible global opportunity with interview volume dependent on availability, interview qualifications, and platform demand. Most participants use the role as supplemental or flexible income rather than traditional full-time employment.
Pay: $60.00 - $80.00 per hour
