Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Janitor/Cleaner to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our facilities. This role is vital in ensuring that all spaces are hygienic, well-maintained, and compliant with safety standards. As a key member of our facilities team, you will perform a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks to support the overall cleanliness and sanitation of our premises, contributing to a positive experience for staff and visitors alike. Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal across various areas such as offices, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces.
- Handle cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums efficiently and safely to ensure optimal results.
- Use appropriate chemical agents for cleaning and sanitation while adhering strictly to chemical handling safety procedures.
- Conduct heavy lifting and manual handling of supplies, furniture, or equipment following safe lifting practices to prevent injury.
- Maintain sanitation standards by disinfecting surfaces in high-touch areas like door handles, light switches, and restrooms.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs or reporting larger repair needs to facilities management.
- Follow all safety protocols during cleaning procedures to ensure a hazard-free environment for yourself and others.
- Assist with custodial duties related to facilities maintenance or residential painting as needed.
- Support the team with general porter duties including moving supplies or furniture to facilitate building operations.
Experience
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or residential settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with cleaning techniques involving various chemicals and cleaning equipment such as floor buffers is highly desirable.
- Experience handling cleaning agents safely according to chemical handling safety procedures.
- Knowledge of sanitation standards and best practices for maintaining hygienic environments.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper manual handling techniques.
- Customer service skills are beneficial for interacting professionally with staff or visitors when necessary.
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance or porter roles will be considered an asset.

Pay: $17.00 - $17.50 per hour
