This job is ideal for an accomplished musician who wants to join a special music community and help develop the next generation of musicians. School of Rock Mason is part of the worldwide School of Rock network dedicated to enriching lives through performance-based music education. We put on shows to teach music! Since we opened in 2012, we have rehearsed and performed more than 250 shows to help develop our students.
We teach primarily students from 1st grade through high school, but we have programs for adults as well. We are more than a music school. We are a place where our students can grow in confidence and shine, can connect with others, can feel like they belong, and can be happy. We are looking for a Bass Instructor who can help with our music education but also can help build and inspire our community.
As a Vocal Instructor you will be responsible for all music education-related elements within lessons, creating a dynamic experience to ensure students are challenged and inspired. The Vocal Instructor/teacher positively embodies rock and roll and is responsible for creating a valuable student experience that helps our students learn music and life skills.
We teach five core areas at School of Rock - keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums. We welcome instructors who can teach more than one instrument.
Strong instructors also have an opportunity to become show directors in addition to instructors. Show directors choose music to be performed in our shows, cast students onto songs, and lead show rehearsals.
Music Instruction:
- Maximize the quality of music instruction during private lessons, including helping students prepare for shows that they are participating in
- Teach students to sing safely so as not to damage their voice
- Be sure the students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs
- Create and document thoughtful lesson plans
Customer Connection:
- Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons
- Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school
- Adheres to the School of Rock Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
Skill Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally
- Strong ability to teach vocals and music in general
- Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers and other people
- Works well under pressure
- Ideal candidate is a working musician who also has formal music school training
- Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor
- Good judgment a must
- Passion for teaching
