Position Overview
The Office Dental Assistant supports both clinical and administrative operations to ensure smooth daily flow, accurate documentation, and an exceptional patient experience. This role requires strong communication skills, organization, and the ability to multitask efficiently.
ResponsibilitiesClinical Support:
- Assist doctor during procedures (restorative, crown & bridge, extractions, etc.)
- Take digital X-rays (must have valid X-ray license)
- Prepare and sterilize instruments according to OSHA standards
- Set up and break down operatories
- Maintain accurate and detailed clinical notes
- Follow routing slip and scheduling protocols
- Ensure treatment rooms are stocked and organized
- Assist with impressions, temporaries, and basic lab tasks
Front Office / Administrative Support:
- Confirm appointments and manage schedule flow
- ANSWER CALLS
- Collect co-payments and balances
- Support treatment presentation and patient education
- Scan and upload documents (EOBs, insurance forms, patient paperwork)
- Maintain organized patient records in OpenDental (preferred)
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 year dental assisting experience (preferred)
- RDA or DA certification (as required by state)
- Valid X-ray license
- CPR/BLS certified
- Experience with OpenDental (preferred)
- Knowledge of PPO insurance (Denti-Cal a plus)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
