Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice 2 days a week. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform thorough dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining optimal oral health for patients of all ages. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, infection control, and patient assessment, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for every patient. Experience with EMR systems and familiarity with dental software such as Eaglesoft is highly valued. The Dental Hygienist will collaborate closely with the dental team to deliver comprehensive care in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct initial patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions
- Assist with dental procedures through chairside assisting, ensuring proper aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Take and develop medical imaging as needed for diagnostic purposes
- Review and update medical records accurately within EMR systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures and address any concerns or questions
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to infection control standards and sterilization procedures
- Document treatment details thoroughly in medical records, including medical coding when applicable
- Collaborate with dentists on treatment planning and patient care strategies, particularly in pediatric dentistry when applicable
- Stay current with industry best practices, dental terminology, and new technologies to enhance patient care quality
Requirements
- Valid Dental Hygienist license in the NC.
- Proven experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or dental clinics preferred
- Proficiency with Eaglesoft is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to perform four-handed dentistry efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach toward patients of all ages, including pediatrics
- Familiarity with medical imaging techniques and vital signs monitoring
- Knowledge of medical records management, documentation review, and medical coding processes
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality is maintained at all times
