Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide speech and language services to students in a school-based setting. The SLP will work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and other school professionals to support students’ communication, academic, social, and developmental needs.
This position is ideal for an experienced school-based SLP as well as a Clinical Fellow (CF) looking to gain valuable experience in an educational environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments and evaluations to identify students' needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals based on student evaluations and needs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to students in individual and small-group settings.
- Monitor and document student progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, administrators, and parents to support student development.
- Provide consultation, training, and resources to teachers and school staff regarding strategies for supporting students' communication needs in the classroom.
- Integrate speech and language goals into classroom activities and educational programming when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records in accordance with federal and state requirements.
- Participate in IEP meetings, student support meetings, and other multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.
- Communicate effectively with parents and school personnel regarding student progress and recommendations.
- Follow all applicable professional, federal, and state regulations governing the practice of speech-language pathology.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) or a related field from an accredited program.
- Active Maryland Speech-Language Pathology license/certification required prior to the start of the assignment.
- Clinical Fellows (CFs) are encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of speech and language development, assessment tools, and therapeutic techniques.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Previous experience working in a school, pediatric, or early childhood setting.
- Experience working with students with diverse communication, developmental, and learning needs.
- Familiarity with IEP development and special education processes.
