Overview:
The Occupational Nurse will be required to do the following,

Provides nursing services, first-aid and clinical fit for duty assessments to employees or persons who become ill or injured at work

Works in a fast-paced environment and multi-tasks while maintaining customer service
-
Performs medical screenings such as drug (hair, urine, oral) and alcohol, vision, blood pressure, audiograms, respirator and pulmonary function tests
-
Works with Safety/Industrial Hygiene to recognize environmental factors and/or stresses in or from the workplace that may cause sickness, impaired health, or discomfort among the workforce
-
Maintains facility compliance as applicable, with OSHA and CDC health and safety related standards
-
Maintains medical records and privacy standards at all times in accordance with established guidelines
-
Takes direction from Medical Director, Manager of Occupational Health & Audiology, and Medical Providers
-
Administers vaccinations and TB testing; performs phlebotomy and POC testing
-
Mentors support staff and participates in education and clinical competencies
-
Provides health education information
-
Dispenses OTC and limited Rx medications
-
Assists in creation of written procedures and policies
-
Other duties as directed
This position is located in North Kingston, RI
Work Hours
-
First Shift. Eight-hour shift. Shifts subject to change. Variations occur generally between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., with rare instances of weekend coverage. Second shift coverage required for scheduled PTO or trainings.
Qualifications:
Required:
-
Licensed Registered Nurse in Rhode Island
-
CPR/First Aid/AED certification. ACLS preferred.

NIOSH spirometry certification or willingness and ability to obtain certification
-
Breath alcohol technician certification or willingness and ability to obtain certification
-
CAOHC certification or willingness and ability to obtain certification
-
Experience with policy/procedure development
-
Vaccine coordination
-
Must be available to work all shifts including extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
Preferred:
-
Minimum of 1 Year of RN experience or extensive 3+ LPN experience
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Adobe experience a plus.

Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN/COHN-S) or working toward certification (highly desired)
-
Experience working within a large organization or industrial environment
- ER or urgent care experience preferred
-
Experience in Occupational Health at Electric Boat (highly desired)
