Responsibilities
- Cultivate relationships with prospective clients through proactive outreach, networking, and referral sources to generate new mortgage loan opportunities
- Guide borrowers through the entire loan process, from application to closing, ensuring clarity and transparency at each step
- Analyze credit reports, income documentation, and financial statements to assess borrower eligibility using tools like FNMA guidelines and underwriting standards
- Prepare and review loan documentation, contracts, disclosures (including TILA), and escrow instructions to ensure accuracy and compliance with Fair Housing regulations
- Collaborate with underwriters, processors, and other team members to facilitate smooth loan processing and underwriting workflows
- Utilize mortgage software such as Quicken or similar platforms for loan origination, servicing, and tracking activities
- Conduct credit analysis and basic math calculations to determine borrower qualification levels while maintaining high standards of customer service
Qualifications
- Proven experience in loan officer roles within the mortgage or financial services industry with a strong understanding of loan origination processes
- Demonstrated success in financial sales, negotiation, and customer service environments
- Familiarity with FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines, TILA (Truth in Lending Act), Fair Housing regulations, and mortgage servicing procedures
- Proficiency in mortgage software such as Quicken or comparable programs; experience with accounting software is a plus
- Strong analytical skills including credit analysis, math proficiency, and familiarity with escrow processes
- Knowledge of loan processing, underwriting standards, and basic banking principles including contracts and financial software applications
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly and professionally
- Ability to perform 10-key typing efficiently for data entry tasks
