A client is seeking a
Payroll Specialist to join their corporate team in Glen Allen, VA. This is a
permanent, direct hire opportunity supporting a high-volume, multi-state payroll operation in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule & Work Environment-
Hybrid: Work from home Monday & Friday; in-office Tuesday-Thursday (flexible based on payroll cycles)

Hours: Choose 8 working hours between 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Key Responsibilities-
Process semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll for ~1,500 employees across 20+ states

Manage payroll for hourly, salaried, and commissioned employees across multiple pay groups

Maintain and update employee data: new hires, terminations, salary changes, tax updates, deductions, PTO

Partner with third-party provider to ensure payroll tax compliance and reporting

Transmit 401(k) contributions and support benefit deductions

Prepare payroll reports (earnings, taxes, deductions, etc.)

Support year-end processing (W-2s) and reconciliations
-
Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data confidentiality

Assist with audits, tax notices, and system updates
Qualifications-
Associate's degree in accounting, Business, or related field
-
3+ years of multi-state payroll experience (high-volume strongly preferred)

Experience processing payroll for 1,000+ employees

Exposure to payroll systems such as Workday, UKG (UltiPro), or similar
-
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
-
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Excellent communication and organizational skills
-
CPP or FPC certification a plus
Pay Details: $29.00 to $32.00 per hour
