We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Operations to lead and optimize our organization’s core operational functions. Education Req:
College degree in technical area or equivalent eight years of manufacturing production experience with at least five years of managerial/supervisory experience in a metal fabrication shop.
Min. Qualifications:
Must have in-depth knowledge of Manufacturing and Engineering principles, practices and procedures. Familiarity with fabrication materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, cold-rolled steel and copper. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes including, milling, forming, turrets, punch press, laser cutting/marking, welding, grinding and paint application. Must know how to read a tape measure and calipers. Strong understanding of manufacturing process flow and the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization, as well as lead multi-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple product lines with a high degree of schedule variability (low volume – high mix). Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and knowledge of Auto Cad software a plus.
Experience Req:
Minimum five (5) years experience in fabrication management. Must have the ability to identify and anticipate production and operation needs. Ability to read blueprints and translate drawings specifications into manufacturing requirements. Demonstrated ability to recommend and implement solutions to fabrication problems. Meticulous attention to detail, effective planning and organizational skills. Must have strong people skills and the ability to promote teamwork. Hands-on practical experience as well as a comprehensive understanding of the philosophy and technical aspects of lean manufacturing and six sigma. Experience in Fabrication industry preferred.
Primary Functions:
· Contribute to the strategic planning process of developing and implementing operations strategy
· Ensure fabrication teams operational performance metrics meet or exceed the IMS-MW objectives
· Conduct weekly GEMBA meeting with Zone teams to communicate daily performance, discuss close calls and remind employees of proper procedures
· Review daily fabrication shop production schedules and create team plans accordingly
· Conduct meetings with all leadpersons to discuss plan of action
· Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to employees and assign duties
· Execute plan and monitor progress while providing expertise and assistance in areas needed to ensure successful completion of weekly production demands
· Develop, train, provide effective supervision and motivate hourly fabrication team
· Identify opportunities for cross training and capacity training in order to enhance capacity and responsiveness to customer requirements
· Ensure short throughput time and optimize production team based on fluctuating production demands
· Develops and recommends improvements of facility, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency
· Overall capacity planning, alloction of reserve capacity, identification of planned shutdowns and alloction of down-time for maintenance
· Reviews and analyzes production, quality, maintenance and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems
· Consults with engineering team relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production or quality of products
· Recommends, implements and monitors changes required to ensure consistent hours per unit
· Monitor prototype project timeliness and expenditures on a per project basis to meet deadlines
· Work with Quality Control to establish a self-auditing process to check parts for comformance to print
· Manage and direct team and work with HR to address employee issues as they arise
· Manage disciplinary and progress reviews process
· Enforce and monitor all company policies
· Ensures health and safety guidelines set by the company
· Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Demands:
20/20 vision with or without correction, use of hands 100% of the time, stand, bend, stoop, twist, turn. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs.
Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
