Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with the intake process, including collecting vital signs and medical histories
- Prepare examination rooms and assist dermatologists during patient consultations and procedures
- Perform clinical tasks such as administering medications, applying treatments, and conducting basic dermatological procedures like biopsies or skin assessments
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient encounters, diagnoses, and treatment plans
- Assist with phlebotomy, specimen collection, and preparation for laboratory testing when necessary
- Educate patients on skincare routines, medication instructions, and post-treatment care to promote optimal outcomes
- Support administrative duties including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, ICD coding, and maintaining medical records
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with dermatology background preferred; experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics is highly valued
- Knowledge of dermatology-specific procedures, pharmacology related to skin conditions, and physiology of the integumentary system
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are advantageous
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical documentation standards
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately
- Prior experience working in hospital settings or Level I/II trauma centers is a plus; inpatient or emergency medicine experience is beneficial
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail
