Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health through observation of vital signs and overall condition, promptly reporting changes to healthcare professionals
- Administer medications accurately following medical instructions and documentation protocols
- Support clients with specialized care needs such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, memory care, and end-of-life care
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to document care activities and medical records securely in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Utilize patient transfer methods and equipment such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safe mobility assistance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary requirements and assist with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
- Follow home healthcare regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Support clients in community engagement and social activities to promote mental well-being
Experience
- Proven experience working as a caregiver in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home healthcare settings
- Demonstrated expertise in patient observation, medical terminology, catheter care, and medication administration
- Prior experience with geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring hospice or dementia care
- Familiarity with home health agency operations, medical documentation practices, and patient transfer techniques such as Hoyer lifts
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and maintaining patient confidentiality in all interactions
- Hands-on experience providing personal care assistance for seniors or individuals with disabilities in live-in environments
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently when necessary for patient transfers or mobility support
- Certification in First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and other relevant safety training is highly preferred
