About Component Overhaul Services
Component Overhaul Services is an FAA and EASA certified Part 145 repair station specializing in the overhaul, repair, and exchange of landing gear and related components for commercial and regional aircraft. Operating from a modern 72,000 sq. ft. facility in Medley, Florida—just minutes from Miami International Airport—we support major airlines and operators with fast turnaround times, an extensive exchange inventory, and around-the-clock AOG capability. We are a hands-on, growth-oriented organization where accurate financial information directly supports operational decisions and customer service.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller who will report directly to the Director of Finance. This is a high-ownership role that combines hands-on responsibility for the core accounting function with exposure to broader financial and strategic initiatives.
You will significantly drive the day-to-day “block and tackle” of accounting—monthly and year-end close, general ledger integrity, reconciliations, accounts receivable and collections, accounts payable, cash monitoring, and process accuracy—while also supporting the Director of Finance on higher-level work such as banking and credit relationships, financial analysis, process improvement, vendor and financing documentation, and management reporting. The position offers a clear path to Controller for the right performer as the company continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Financial Close
- Own or significantly contribute to the monthly and year-end close process, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions with proper supporting documentation.
- Review and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes; identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Support external audits and provide requested schedules and explanations.
Accounts Receivable, Collections & Customer Accounts
- Monitor customer accounts, aging, and outstanding balances.
- Drive collections activity, resolve payment discrepancies and disputes, and maintain consistent follow-up to protect cash flow.
- Partner with operations and customer service as needed on billing and credit issues.
Accounts Payable, Vendors & External Financial Relationships
- Review AP activity and support vendor account management.
- Assist with credit applications, financial packages, trade references, credit limits, and banking relationships.
- Help manage documentation related to company credit facilities and financing arrangements.
- Communicate professionally and directly with vendors, banks, and other financial partners to resolve issues through completion.
Cash, Analysis & Management Support
- Monitor cash activity, banking transactions, and credit card activity.
- Prepare account analyses, cash forecasts, and ad-hoc financial schedules requested by the Director of Finance and management.
- Support decision-making with accurate, timely financial information and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
ERP & Process Improvement (Quantum Control)
- Work extensively in Quantum Control (Quantum ERP). Hands-on experience with the accounting modules, WIP, inventory costing, job/repair order accounting, and related financial processes is a major priority.
- Help improve data integrity between operations and finance and streamline accounting workflows in a Part 145 repair station environment.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally at the Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager level.
- Strong technical foundation in general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and cash management.
- Proven experience with customer collections, vendor accounts/credit, payment terms, and banking or credit facility documentation.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to research and resolve complex accounting issues independently.
- Excellent follow-through, attention to detail, and professional communication skills with both internal stakeholders and external parties (customers, vendors, banks).
- Comfort working closely with the Director of Finance and taking ownership of financial matters without requiring constant direction.
Strongly Preferred
- Hands-on experience with Quantum Control / Quantum ERP (accounting modules, WIP, inventory costing, job/repair order accounting).
- Prior experience in aviation, aerospace, MRO, or Part 145 repair station environment (highly valued for understanding job costing, WIP, exchanges, and operational pace).
- CPA license or active pursuit of CPA.
- Experience supporting audits and improving accounting processes in a manufacturing or service operations setting.
