Job Title: General Laborer
Reports To: Site Supervisor / Project Manager
Job Summary:
The General Laborer performs essential physical tasks to support construction and maintenance operations. This role involves preparing job sites, handling materials, operating equipment, and performing minor repairs. Laborers help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment while assisting skilled traders and contributing to the overall success of the project. Flexibility, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic are key to thriving in this hands-on role
Key Responsibilities:
1. Site Preparation
- Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and hazards
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment
- Assemble and disassemble scaffolding and temporary structures
- Perform general building maintenance and minor roofing repairs
- Maintain workspace cleanliness and organization
2. Equipment Handling & Repairs
- Operate light and heavy equipment as directed
- Perform minor plumbing repairs and basic equipment maintenance
- Move tools and materials according to project plans or supervisor instructions
- Conduct asphalt and pothole repairs as needed
3. Safety & Support
- Follow all safety standards and site protocols
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Assist skilled tradespeople as needed
- Perform specialized tasks with on-the-job training
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience
- Proven prior experience in construction or general labor (preferred)
- Forklift certification (required or willing to obtain)
- Familiarity with basic tools and equipment
Technical Skills
- Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
- Skilled in using job-specific equipment and tools
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to changing tasks
- Must be able to understand English
Work Environment
- Outdoor and indoor construction sites
- Must have experience in industrial construction
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands
- Requires lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods
- You must wear appropriate safety gear and follow site regulations
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
