Position Information Full Time, 40 hours per week Day time hours No weekends with 6 paid holidays Travel to Dixon, Princeton, Peru, Ottawa, Morris and Streator required Position Summary Medical Office Receptionist performs multiple office tasks in the front office. Both clerical and patient care activities are performed per the needs of the practice and as instructed by the clinicians on duty, in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations. Essential Functions shared by reception Promptly greet patients and visitors upon arrival. Is always consciously aware of all people entering and leaving the clinic site. Answers telephones, schedules and confirms appointments, and schedules patients for tests and procedures, including preparing appropriate forms and prior authorizations. Makes appointment reminder calls to patients. Has the ability to move the patient through all steps of the check-in and check-out process to ensure a complete electronic health record (EHR) for medical documentation and billing purposes. Retrieves eligibility, coverage, and PCP information from the State of Illinois MEDI system and adds/updates patient information in the practice management system. Collects various forms of payments (cash/check/credit card) from patients, as appropriate, and enters payments into the practice management system. Reconciles daily payments with providers daily. Performs waived lab testing within scope of competency and training on an as needed basis. Travels to various clinic locations Maintains and assures the confidentiality of patient information. Reports building/equipment problems through the appropriate channels. Performs any clerical duty or department-related task as assigned by the supervisor in a continuously changing medical practice. Requirements: Job Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or vocational certificate preferred. Ability to read and write to review, file, and maintain patient medical records and charts. Basic computer skills to maintain a patient's EHR. Ability to operate standard office equipment Strong interpersonal skills to greet patients, visitors, and staff with a smile and obtain required information and respond to their questions. Analytical ability to balance and organize work to perform multiple functions for the practice.
