About OUDC
Operation Understanding DC (OUDC) cultivates youth leaders dedicated to advancing equality and combating discrimination through compassionate leadership, bridge-building across differences, and meaningful dialogue in support of the ongoing quest for justice. Through its signature Social Justice Fellowship and Summer Journey, OUDC partners with students, schools, and community organizations to develop a new generation of social justice leaders.
Position Summary
The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordination, and execution of the Social Justice Fellowship. Working closely with the Executive Director and the OUDC team, this role ensures high-quality program delivery, effective communication with participants and families, strong administrative oversight, and consistent monitoring and evaluation aligned with program objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The percentages below reflect the approximate share of time and attention each area should receive.
Program Planning, Coordination & Execution — 50%
Deliver the Social Justice Fellowship and strengthen its rigor and participant experience.
What you will do:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of the Social Justice Fellowship.
- Develop and refine curriculum and session design aligned with program goals.
- Co-train facilitators with the Executive Director, including preparation and alignment across sessions.
- Manage program calendars, schedules, session logistics, and external partnerships.
- Coordinate the Summer Journey and other key program milestones.
- Lead student recruitment, including outreach, application processes, and coordination with program leadership.
What success looks like:
- Well-organized program delivery with all sessions executed on schedule.
- A strong, diverse cohort of fellows recruited and onboarded successfully.
- A high-quality, engaging fellowship experience for participants.
- Successful execution of major program components, including the Summer Journey.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Data Management — 20%
Track program outcomes and support continuous improvement.
What you will do:
- Implement program evaluation tools, including surveys, attendance tracking, and data collection.
- Contribute program data and insight to OUDC’s organization-wide evaluation framework.
- Analyze and synthesize program data for internal use and external reporting.
- Support reporting to funders and stakeholders.
- Gather feedback from fellows and facilitators to continuously strengthen the program.

- Accurate, reliable program data available for decision-making.
- Clear insight into program impact and participant outcomes.
- Data-driven recommendations that improve program quality.
Communication & Stakeholder Coordination — 20%
Manage clear, consistent communication with fellows, families, facilitators, and partners.
What you will do:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for program logistics and external partner coordination.
- Manage communication and engagement with fellows, families, facilitators, and partners.
- Develop and distribute timely program updates, schedules, and key information.
- Coordinate across the OUDC team to ensure aligned, seamless program delivery.
What success looks like:
- Clear, consistent communication with all stakeholders.
- Strong relationships with fellows, facilitators, and partners.
- High participant satisfaction and engagement.
Administrative Management & Systems — 10%
Maintain the infrastructure that supports reliable program delivery.
What you will do:
- Maintain program records, files, and documentation.
- Support administrative processes, including forms, permissions, and compliance tracking.
- Manage internal tools and systems related to program delivery.
- Ensure program materials and resources are organized and accessible.
What success looks like:
- Complete, well-organized program records and documentation.
- Compliance tracking is current and reliable.
Qualifications
Required
- A bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least three years of experience managing or coordinating education or youth-focused programs.
- Demonstrated experience planning and executing multi-component programs, including timelines, logistics, and deliverables.
- Experience developing or adapting curriculum, session materials, or educational content.
- Strong written communication skills, including newsletters, emails, and program documentation.
- Experience with program tracking, including attendance, data collection, and documentation.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and familiarity with tools such as Mailchimp and Canva.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, youth leadership, and mission-driven work.
Highly preferred
- A master’s degree in education, social sciences, or a related field.
Preferred
- Experience supporting parent, alumni, or community engagement programming.
