Somar Pools is seeking an experienced Pool Repair Technician who can independently diagnose, repair, and improve sophisticated residential pool and aquatic systems throughout South Florida.
This is not a pool-cleaning position.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of problems from diagnosis through completion, communicates clearly, keeps an organized truck and work environment, and takes pride in doing the job correctly the first time.
Our clients expect a high level of professionalism, technical competence, and attention to detail. We expect the same from our technicians.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, filters, heaters, salt systems, automation systems, sanitizers, valves, lighting, water features, and related pool equipment
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, plumbing, electrical, and equipment-performance issues
- Replace and install pool equipment and components
- Identify root causes instead of simply replacing parts
- Inspect the entire equipment environment while on-site and identify developing issues before they become failures
- Complete assigned repair and diagnostic calls from start to finish
- Perform minor plumbing repairs and equipment-pad modifications
- Program and troubleshoot Pentair, Jandy, Hayward, Fluidra, and similar automation/equipment systems
- Accurately document diagnoses, completed work, recommendations, photos, and required follow-up
- Communicate findings clearly to management and customers when appropriate
- Identify additional repair, renovation, or equipment-upgrade opportunities
- Maintain a clean, organized, professional company vehicle, tools, and inventory
- Assist with shop organization, inventory, equipment preparation, or other productive work when scheduled repair calls are completed
- Communicate proactively if additional work is needed rather than simply ending the workday early
- Help maintain Somar Pools’ reputation for premium service and craftsmanship
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate:
- Has strong hands-on pool repair and equipment troubleshooting experience
- Can independently diagnose problems rather than relying on trial-and-error parts replacement
- Takes ownership of assigned work
- Is dependable and consistently completes scheduled work
- Has strong attention to detail
- Checks completed work before leaving the property
- Communicates when something is unclear or additional work is required
- Is organized with tools, parts, vehicle, notes, and scheduling
- Is comfortable working independently without constant supervision
- Understands that finishing the scheduled stops does not mean the workday is automatically over
- Looks for productive work and asks what else needs to be completed
- Presents professionally at high-end residential properties
- Can explain technical issues clearly to customers and coworkers
- Takes pride in minimizing callbacks and doing the job correctly the first time
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years of professional pool repair or equipment-service experience
- Pentair, Jandy, Hayward, Fluidra, or similar equipment
- Pumps and variable-speed pumps
- Filters
- Gas and electric pool heaters
- Salt chlorine systems
- Automation and control systems
- Basic electrical troubleshooting
- Pool plumbing and hydraulics
- Lighting
- Water features
- Equipment-pad installation and renovation
- Leak diagnosis is a plus
- Commercial or complex residential systems are a plus
- CPO or similar certification is a plus
Candidates with strong experience in HVAC, electrical, marine systems, industrial maintenance, mechanical service, or similar technical trades may also be considered if they have relevant pool experience.
