Job Summary:
Responsible for preparing a variety of sushi dishes, maintaining the quality and freshness of ingredients, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment. Key responsibilities include expert preparation of fish and other ingredients, while adhering to strict hygiene standards, and collaborating with kitchen staff to deliver an excellent dining experience.
Essential skills include but are not limited to the following:
- Good communication skills; able to accurately read and communicate orders.
- Well organized, shows a sense of urgency: able to track multiple orders.
- Be able to work both effectively as part of a team and also unsupervised.
- Works well under pressure.
- Detail oriented with the ability to multi‐task and maximize efficiency in a fast pace environment.
- Professionalism in both appearance and fulfilling work duties.
- Honesty and integrity is a must, as well as committing to company values.
- Understanding of food safe practices.
- Learn and complies consistently with our standard portions sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
Essential duties and responsibilities of Back of House employees include but are not limited to the following:
- Shows up to all shifts in proper uniform ready to work at scheduled time. Attendance must be regular and consistent.
- Presents themselves professionally in appearance: by always being well groomed and in a clean uniform.
- Follows all policies and procedures in both position specific manuals and companywide Code of Conduct.
- Attends all mandatory meetings - as well as completes all training and testing.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of recipes, procedures and plating for items in which their position is responsible.
- Complete all tasks assigned by management on a daily basis, including stocking, cleaning, opening and closing tasks, as well as keep work stations as neat and orderly as possible during the shift.
- Assists in food prep assignments during off‐peak periods as needed.
Required Abilities:
- Have the ability to stand on feet for long periods time, at least 8 hours continuously.
- Must be able to use abdominal and lower back muscles continuously, as well as lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, such as: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, squatting, and pushing.
- Must have availability to work some weekdays and weekend shifts, as well as holidays.
- Must be able to read, write, and follow written and verbal directions.
- Must be flexible and willing to cross train or work other Back of House positions.
