Job Title: Educational Technology Specialist
Location: 1405 Shady Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15217
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Full Time, Onsite
The Educational Technology Specialist serves as the primary point of technical support for The Day School. The position operates as a member of the Information Systems department but is fully dedicated to supporting The Day School classroom technology, educational software, professional learning, and various technology initiatives that improve teaching, learning, and operational efficiency. The Day School leadership will help prioritize needs, requests, and projects for the position in close coordination with the Director of Information Systems.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for technology support for school-based staff, students, and classrooms
- Respond promptly to hardware, software, A/V equipment, network, account access, and instructional technology issues; troubleshoot and resolve those issues; and document all actions taken
- Provide clear, accurate communication to end users regarding issue status, resolution steps, and expected timelines
- Provide classroom and event audiovisual support, including setup, testing, operation, and troubleshooting of presentation equipment
- Partner with teachers to integrate technology into daily instruction by identifying classroom needs, recommending appropriate digital tools, supporting lesson design, and modeling effective use of instructional software and devices
- Support onboarding of new employees by introducing school technology systems, account access procedures, classroom devices, communication platforms, help desk processes, and cybersecurity expectations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Instructional Technology, or related field required. Equivalent combination of technical training, certifications, and relevant school-based technology support experience may be considered.
- Minimum 2 years of experience providing IT or systems support, educational technology support, help desk service, device deployment, or technology training
- Experience in education, healthcare, or another mission-driven environment strongly preferred
- Familiarity with educational workflows, instructional schedules, student services, special education documentation needs, confidentiality requirements, assistive technology, and accessibility considerations preferred.
- Experience with education-focused applications including but not limited to Skyward, IEPWriter, and SchoolMessenger preferred.
- Clearances Required: Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, and Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
