Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Dump Truck Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating heavy-duty dump trucks to transport materials such as gravel, dirt, or construction debris across various job sites and routes. Responsibilities
- Operate dump trucks safely and efficiently on over-the-road (OTR) routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload materials accurately, ensuring proper securing of loads including hazardous materials and dangerous goods when applicable.
- Navigate using GPS systems to reach delivery sites promptly while optimizing routes for fuel efficiency and time management.
- Transport freight such as construction materials, freight containers, or other cargo requiring specialized handling like refrigerated trailers or flatbeds.
- Maintain detailed logs of all trips, including mileage, fuel consumption, load details, and delivery documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and load security to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site personnel to coordinate delivery schedules and address any route or load issues promptly.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on tractor-trailer operations, preferably involving dump trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
- Familiarity with various types of cargo handling including freight, hazardous materials, tanker loads, flatbed loads, and refrigerated trailers.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient over-the-road (OTR) driving routes.
- Demonstrated ability to load & unload cargo safely using manual handling techniques or truck loading equipment.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to hazardous materials (Hazmat), tanker trucks, or other specialized loads as required by state or federal regulations.
- Understanding of FMCSA regulations related to commercial driving, DOT compliance, hazard management, and safe transportation practices.
- Experience with manual transmission trucks is preferred but not mandatory; a strong understanding of vehicle operation is essential.
