Under general supervision, performs clerical, administrative and public safety dispatching duties for the District police department; receives and responds to routine and emergency calls/requests for police, fire, medical and related public safety services; dispatches District police officers to incidents and/or assists other responding agencies using radio, phone or other dispatching equipment; contacts, receives, maintains and processes police reports, parking citations and other records; and provides information to the public in compliance with departmental policy and legal requirements; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Works under the direct supervision of the department manager.
Does not directly or indirectly supervise other employees but may provide work direction to temporary employees and/or student workers.
Work Schedule
40 Hours/Week, 12 Months/Year
Position may require non-standard hours (nights and weekends). May work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, holidays and special events.

Salary
The Police Communications and Records Specialist classification’s current salary range is R-29.
Starting salary is from Step 1: $4,791.18 to Step 3: $5,283.06 per month depending upon education and experience.
Salary range: Step 1: $4,791.89 to Step 6: $6,115.80 per month (plus longevity where applicable)
Internal applicants may be initially placed at a higher starting salary as outlined in the CSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
