Purchasing, Material Planning & Scheduling Coordinator
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing, Material Planning & Scheduling Coordinator to support our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for purchasing materials, planning inventory, coordinating production schedules, and ensuring raw materials are effectively converted into finished products while maximizing yield and minimizing waste. In this pivotal role, you will drive the seamless flow of materials and production schedules, ensuring that manufacturing operations run efficiently and meet delivery commitments. Your expertise in supply chain management, demand planning, and ERP systems will be instrumental in optimizing inventory levels, coordinating procurement activities, and supporting lean manufacturing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and procure raw materials based on production schedules, forecasts, and inventory requirements.
- Develop and maintain master production schedules (MPS) aligned with demand forecasts and customer requirements to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Analyze raw material requirements and understand material-to-finished-part yields to ensure accurate purchasing and production planning.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock to support production while minimizing excess inventory.
- Oversee logistics inventory management processes to track raw materials, work-in-progress items, and finished goods across multiple locations.
- Create and manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time material availability.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, warehouse, and sales teams to support manufacturing operations.
- Monitor material usage, scrap, and yield performance, and recommend improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and production planning records within the ERP/MRP system.
- Identify and resolve material shortages, scheduling conflicts, and supply chain issues.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles by identifying waste reduction opportunities within the supply chain and production processes.
Qualifications
- Experience in purchasing, material planning, production scheduling, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding raw material consumption, manufactured part yields, scrap factors, and production efficiencies.
- Ability to calculate material requirements from bills of materials (BOMs), production demand, and yield factors.
- Experience with inventory management, forecasting, and capacity planning.
- Experience with lean manufacturing techniques aimed at waste reduction and process efficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
