We are seeking a skilled Headlight Restoration Technician to join our automotive service team. The primary responsibility of this role is to diagnose, repair, and restore automotive headlights, ensuring optimal performance and appearance. The Automotive Headlight Repairer will work with a variety of headlight systems, including halogen, LED, and HID, and will perform tasks such as lens restoration, bulb replacement, wiring repair, and alignment adjustments.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Diagnosis and Inspection:
- Inspect headlights for damage, fogging, or electrical issues.
- Test headlight bulbs, wiring, and fuses to identify faults.
- Check headlight alignment and beam intensity to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Lead daily operations in a high-volume headlight restoration workshop
- Perform advanced repairs: lens sanding (800-3000 grit), UV coating polishing, and broken tab/bracket reconstruction
- Train junior technicians on industry-standard restoration protocols
- Quality-check outputs to meet dealership-grade certification standards
✅ Repair and Restoration:
- Replace damaged or burnt-out bulbs (halogen, LED, or HID).
- Repair or replace damaged wiring, connectors, and switches.
- Sand and polish headlight lenses to remove oxidation, scratches, and discoloration.
- Apply UV protection coating to prevent future lens fogging.
✅ Headlight Alignment and Calibration:
- Adjust headlight aim to ensure proper visibility and road safety.
- Use specialized alignment equipment to meet manufacturer specifications.
✅ Upgrades and Customization:
- Install aftermarket headlight assemblies or upgrades (e.g., LED or HID kits).
- Retrofit headlights with projector lenses or halo rings.
✅ Maintenance and Safety:
- Clean and maintain repair tools and equipment.
- Ensure proper disposal of old bulbs and electrical components.
- Follow all shop safety protocols and wear protective gear (e.g., gloves, safety goggles).
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (automotive certification preferred)
- Experience in automotive repair, electrical work, or detailing
- Strong knowledge of automotive lighting systems (halogen, LED, HID)
- Familiarity with sanding and polishing techniques for headlight restoration
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and wiring diagrams
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 30 lbs
