Job Summary:
AMA is seeking someone who can serve as the liaison between school and parents, relaying the needs of one to the other; educates teachers and staff on how to communicate and work effectively with parents as equal partners; advises and trains parents on how to address issues with the leadership staff in school meetings; serves as a school-based intermediary contact for concerns and comments made by parents and community members; provides referrals to community-based services for families; expands opportunities for continued learning, voluntary community service and civic participation; develops community collaborations; promotes sharing of power with parents as decision-makers; helps parents understand the educational system so they can become better advocates for their children’s education; maintains parent resource center.
Responsibilities:
- Increases parent involvement in the school by working closely with all school, parents and community organizations.
- Supports student activities by assisting with targeted events to increase parental and community involvement, and creates a welcoming school environment to parents aligned with AMA mission and values.
- Communicates with staff and faculty to identify volunteer opportunities.
- Serves as facilitator during regular parent meetings and events around topics of key concerns to parents liaison to administration for projects, events and fundraisers capacity.
- Build and maintain relationships with parents, teachers, administrators, students, and community members Planning and System Development
- Recruit, cultivate, develop, and support a group of parent leaders to manage parent volunteer activities.
- Support and provide input to the School Site Council and regularly attend meetings.
- Develop systems and procedures for recruiting, developing and managing parent volunteers.
- Partner with Division Directors to develop vision and strategy for parent involvement.
- Help coordinate mid-year and end-of year parent surveys to assess where we can provide more direct support to them, solicit critical feedback, and gauge their level of engagement outreach.
- Routinely reach-out to prospective and newly accepted families to keep them engaged, excited and informed about the school Organizational Alignment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Making Waves Academy’s mission, core values, standards, competencies, and code of conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $45,459.44 - $50,725.34 per year
