Goose & Co. is a boutique dog grooming salon in San Francisco’s Glen Park neighborhood, and we’re looking for a Junior Groomer / Grooming Assistant to join our growing team.
This is a great role for someone who already has some professional grooming salon experience, knows the basics of bathing and dog handling, and wants to continue developing their grooming skills in a supportive, hands-on environment.
We’re a smaller, thoughtful salon focused on quality over volume. We want dogs to have a calmer grooming experience, clients to feel genuinely cared for, and our team to enjoy coming to work.
The role
This is an all-around salon position. Depending on your experience and the day, you may:
- Bathe, blow-dry, brush and prep dogs for grooming
- Perform nail trims and other basic grooming services
- Assist experienced groomers with coat prep and finishing
- Perform basic trims or grooms within your current skill level
- Greet clients and help with thoughtful check-in consultations
- Check clients out and help manage appointments
- Update client and grooming notes in our scheduling system
- Help with laundry, cleaning and resetting the salon between dogs
- Learn and follow Goose & Co.’s bathing, coat-care and grooming protocols
As your skills develop, there will be opportunities to take on more grooming responsibilities and eventually build your own appointments.
Who we’re looking for
You should have some previous professional grooming salon experience and be comfortable bathing and handling dogs independently. You do not need to be an experienced full groomer yet.
We’d especially love someone who is:

- Warm, personable and comfortable talking with clients
- Patient and thoughtful with dogs
- Dependable and willing to jump in wherever needed
- Comfortable working independently as well as alongside a team
- Detail-oriented and able to keep a clean, organized workspace
- Open to feedback, training and learning new techniques
- Familiar with grooming salon scheduling/POS software; MoeGo experience is a plus
Training & growth
This is a developmental position. You’ll receive hands-on training in Goose & Co.’s professional bathing and coat-care protocols and have the opportunity to work alongside experienced groomers as you continue building your technical skills.
We’re looking for someone who would like to grow with the salon over time, not someone who already needs a full book of clients.
Schedule & compensation
- $22–$24/hour depending on experience, plus tips
- Approximately 1 day per week to start, with the opportunity to grow to 2+ days as your skills and our appointment volume grow
- Additional hours may occasionally be available for busy periods and coverage
- Weekend availability is a plus
