A trivia host is a part-time employee who runs at least one regularly scheduled trivia event per week. Trivia is most often held weekday evenings, which makes this job a great opportunity to add onto other employment — it is not meant to be someone’s primary employment. We love that our hosts consider trivia their “fun side hustle!”
Games last for anywhere between 90 and 120 minutes, and the host is responsible for the evening’s pacing to ensure player happiness and site satisfaction at our host business. Our hiring needs are currently for Trivia Mafia Classic at the Mystic Lake - Hop House (Prior Lake).
Trivia hosts are paid for 2.8 hours of work, which accounts for reading the trivia questions ahead of time, traveling to and from the site, hosting trivia, photographing winning teams and submitting host feedback (including all photos) after every hosting event. Some locations may require you to be a DJ as well, with a venue-appropriate playlist. Our new customers sign up for a limited trial; if they decide not to stay on after the trial period ends, we will work to find a new location where you can host regularly!
Trivia hosts who remain regular employees have additional opportunities to earn money, which may include hosting theme nights, private trivia events, annual tournaments and more.
Job requirements include:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must feel comfortable with public speaking
- A friendly and approachable demeanor
- Time management and reliability
- Ability to use audio equipment provided by the site or by Trivia Mafia
Job preferences include:
- Experience in a customer service role
- Digital literacy a plus (most sites use a web browser app for Q&A, scoring, etc., but many use pen and paper!)
- An ability to lift 20 lbs (though depending on the venue, this may be wholly unnecessary)
- Playlist curation skills

Pay: $18/hour, with annual $1 raises for applicable hosts
Benefits: PTO accrued based on hosting shifts (1 hour per 28 hours worked); $30 tab at hosting site; mileage reimbursement for round trips between 25-36 miles; merch discount.
