Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Service Manager - Service Writer to join our dynamic automotive service team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, guiding them through their vehicle service experience while managing the service department’s daily operations. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and dealership experience will ensure exceptional customer satisfaction and efficient workflow. Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly, assess their vehicle needs, and provide clear explanations of recommended repairs and services.
- Write detailed service orders, accurately estimate costs, and communicate timelines effectively to customers.
- Oversee the service department’s daily operations, answering phones, including scheduling appointments, managing workflow, and ensuring timely completion of repairs.
- Collaborate with technicians to diagnose issues using automotive diagnostics tools and ensure quality workmanship on repairs such as brake repair, oil changes, suspension work, tire service, engine repair, shocks & struts, air brake systems.
- Promote additional services through upselling techniques while maintaining integrity and customer trust.
- Handle credit card transactions accurately and maintain proper records of all financial dealings.
- Lead a team of service technicians by providing guidance on mechanical procedures and ensuring compliance with safety standards, and hold meetings once a month.
- Maintain excellent customer service by addressing concerns promptly and fostering positive relationships with clients.
- Stay current with automotive industry trends, repair techniques, and dealership best practices to continually improve service quality.
- Follow up with customers on repairs.
Skills
- Proven experience with a strong background in auto service management and automotive diagnostics.
- Extensive mechanical knowledge across various systems, including brakes, suspensions, tires, shocks & struts, air brakes, etc.
- Skilled in auto estimating software and automotive repair procedures.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Demonstrated ability in upselling services while maintaining ethical standards.
- Experience in auto repair processes and vehicle maintenance protocols.
- Strong sales acumen with a focus on automobile sales integration into service offerings.
- Proficiency in cash handling and administrative tasks related to service writing.
