Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Dental Receptionist/ Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth operation within the clinic. This role requires a blend of administrative skills and knowledge of dental procedures to effectively support both patients and dental staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Patient Management & Customer Service:
- Greeting patients: Greet patients warmly and manage check-in/check-out processes.
- Answering phones and emails: Responding to inquiries, taking messages, and scheduling appointments.
- Scheduling and managing appointments: Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming appointments, as well as managing the dental office schedule.
- Providing dental care information: Answering patient questions about procedures, costs, and insurance.
- Assisting with patient forms: Helping patients fill out intake and medical forms.
- Managing patient records: Maintaining accurate and organized patient records, including updating information and filing documents.
- Handling patient inquiries: Addressing patient concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Administrative and Financial Tasks:
- Managing patient accounts: Handling billing, collecting payments, and processing insurance claims.
- Verifying insurance information: Confirming patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Preparing and sending patient bills: Creating and sending accurate and timely invoices.
- Submitting insurance claims: Filing claims with dental insurance companies.
- Managing specialist referrals: Handling referrals to other dental specialists.
- Maintaining a professional reception area: Ensuring the reception area is clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Performing basic accounting tasks: Taking patient payments, preparing billing statements, and maintaining petty cash.
- Sorting and organizing mail: Handling incoming and outgoing mail.
Ability to perform in a fast paced environment is necessary.
Friendly attitude is important as you will play a big role in maintaining relationships with patients and providing an exceptional patient care.
Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
- Knowledge of anatomy related to dentistry.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
- Experience or understanding of pediatrics in a dental setting.
- Knowledge of endodontics procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting tasks as needed.
- Ability to take vital signs when necessary.
- Familiarity with general dentistry practices.
- Strong understanding of infection control measures in a clinical setting.
