Stringer Auto Repair is looking for a Service Advisor for our Reynoldsburg location.
What This Job Is Really About
A great Service Advisor doesn't just sell automotive repairs.
You are the person who makes sure nothing gets lost between the customer, the technician, and the shop.
A customer drops off a vehicle with a concern. You make sure we understand exactly what's happening.
A technician inspects the vehicle. You make sure the findings are communicated accurately.
The vehicle needs repairs. You explain the recommendations clearly, answer the customer's questions, and help them make a decision.
The customer approves the work. You make sure the job keeps moving.
And throughout the entire process, you make sure the customer knows what's happening and what happens next.
If you're someone who gets satisfaction from keeping all of those pieces organized and seeing something through from beginning to end, you'll probably enjoy this position.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Answering incoming calls promptly and professionally
- Greeting customers and listening carefully to their concerns
- Accurately documenting customer concerns
- Scheduling appointments
- Managing multiple customers and repair orders throughout the day
- Reviewing technicians' digital vehicle inspections
- Preparing accurate repair estimates
- Explaining recommended repairs in a way customers can understand
- Asking customers for repair authorization
- Keeping customers informed while their vehicles are in the shop
- Following up on estimates and declined recommendations
- Communicating with technicians and parts personnel
- Keeping repair orders and workflow information accurate
- Making sure commitments and promised follow-ups actually happen
- Following up with customers after repairs are completed
- Taking ownership of the customer experience from the first phone call through vehicle pickup
You'll Probably Be Good at This If...
You naturally:
- Pay attention to details other people sometimes miss
- Like having an organized process to follow
- Keep notes, lists, or reminders so things don't get forgotten
- Follow through when you tell someone you'll do something
- Prefer getting something right instead of simply getting it done
- Are patient when explaining something to another person
- Like helping people solve problems
- Can manage several responsibilities without becoming scattered
- Appreciate clear expectations and accountability
- Work well as part of a team
- Are comfortable asking questions when something isn't clear
- Stay professional when things get busy
- Like completing one process before considering the job finished
You do not need to be a stereotypical salesperson to succeed here.
We aren't looking for someone who pressures customers into buying repairs they don't need.
We want someone who can earn a customer's trust, clearly explain what their vehicle needs, answer their questions, and confidently ask them how they'd like to move forward.
If you've taken good care of the customer and communicated clearly, selling becomes part of the process—not a pressure tactic.
What We Expect From You
Our shop has established processes because consistency matters.
You'll be expected to learn those processes and follow them.
We believe customers should receive the same level of communication and service regardless of how busy the shop is or who happens to be working that day.
That means we value:
- Accuracy
- Consistency
- Urgency
- Communication
- Follow-through
- Accountability
- Teamwork
If you prefer figuring everything out your own way every day, this probably isn't the right environment.
If you appreciate knowing the standard, understanding the process, and being trusted to execute it well, it may be a very good fit.
