Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, including experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth, and demonstrate proficiency in a variety of specialized nursing areas. This role involves providing high-quality patient care across diverse settings, including acute care, long-term care, outpatient clinics, and home health environments. The Registered Nurse will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive treatment plans, adhere to HIPAA regulations, and maintain accurate medical documentation. Experience with complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, dialysis, IV infusion, and suturing is highly desirable.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Administer medications and injections accurately while following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Manage airway support, ventilators, and perform advanced procedures such as tube feeding and catheter care.
- Document patient information meticulously in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to ensure compliance with medical records standards.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations including laboratory tests, sonography, mammography, and medical imaging procedures.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU, trauma medicine (Level I & II Trauma Centers), neonatal intensive care (NICU), PICU, hospice & palliative medicine, geriatrics, behavioral health, and infectious disease care.
- Assist with discharge planning, case management, health coaching, and patient education tailored to individual needs.
- Support patients with complex conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, developmental disabilities, or post-acute recovery.
- Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed during all procedures including sterile processing and specimen collection/processing.
- Collaborate with physicians during emergency room procedures or urgent care situations involving trauma medicine or acute pain management.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information and medical documentation.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth; experience with ICD-9/10 coding and CPT coding is preferred.
- Strong clinical skills in cardiac catheterization, dialysis management, IV infusion/insertion (venipuncture), suturing, ostomy care, gastrostomy feeding, and ventilator management.
- Extensive experience in acute care settings such as ICU or emergency room environments; Level I & II Trauma Center experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using laboratory testing or medical imaging modalities like sonography or mammography.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication tailored for diverse populations including pediatrics (neonatal & toddler care), geriatrics (memory/dementia care), behavioral health patients, or individuals with disabilities.
- Familiarity with post-operative discharge planning and outpatient/ambulatory surgery center procedures.
- Capable of working independently or within multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
