Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and proactive HR Manager to lead our human resources department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employee relations, recruitment, compliance, and performance management within the transportation sector. You will play a critical role in supporting all of our drivers, dispatchers, and administrative staff while ensuring strict compliance with California labor laws and industry-specific regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Employee Relations & Reliability: Oversee employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management. Maintain accessibility and professional reliability to support staff and management consistently during core business hours.
- Compliance & Credentialing: Ensure strict compliance with California employment laws and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Monitor and manage driver credentialing, ensuring all drivers maintain mandatory job requirements, such as active and valid CDLs.
- HR Operations & Automation: Manage day-to-day HR operations, including benefits administration, and leave management. Lead HR department modernization efforts to increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Policy Enforcement & Documentation: Draft, update, and enforce company policies. Handle disciplinary actions, employee separations, and unemployment appeals clearly and compliantly, focusing on legal eligibility and adherence to mandatory job requirements.
- Recruitment & Strategic Growth: Lead full-cycle recruitment and onboarding efforts for both office staff and drivers. Support leadership in strategic workforce growth across our entire fleet.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HR management experience.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous HR experience in trucking, transportation, logistics, or fleet management is highly preferred.
- Compliance Expertise: Strong working knowledge of California labor laws; familiarity with DOT regulations and driver credentialing is required.
- Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. High level of organization, attention to detail, and professional dependability.
- Tech-Savvy: Experience working with HRIS software and an openness to utilizing workflow automation tools (such as Microsoft Power Automate) to streamline operations.
