Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers including flatbed, tanker, refrigerated, and dry van trailers across designated routes in Florida and beyond.
- Load and unload freight with precision, adhering to proper manual handling techniques and cargo securing protocols.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to ensure timely deliveries while complying with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and safety procedures.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking for mechanical issues and verifying load security.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and route details in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, and any incidents or delays.
Skills
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers with manual transmission preferred.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling including freight loading/unloading for various types of cargo like freight, hazardous materials, or specialty loads such as tanker or flatbed shipments.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and execution.
- Strong understanding of DOT (Department of Transportation), FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), and hazardous materials regulations.
- Delivery driving experience with a focus on route driving across long-distance over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely while loading or unloading freight.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with refrigerated trailers is a plus.
